Golf Regulations

All Members and their guests should be mindful of their pace of play. Golf etiquette dictates that Golfers are expected to keep up with the group in front of them and to play within the pace of play guidelines noted below. The Golf staff has been charged with monitoring and keeping the pace of play on the course moving along, to enforce the golf rules, and the etiquette outlined herein.

• No member or guest shall reprimand a member of the Golf Staff, Greens Staff, or other Club employee. Problems relating to any staff member, rules violation, or condition of the courses should be communicated to the golf staff and submitted in writing to the General Manager, Golf Committee, Green Committee or the Board of Governors.
• Golfers that are unable to keep up the appropriate pace of play should let others play through. As a reminder, threesomes and twosomes do not have right of way on the course, and may or may not be invited to play through.

Pace of play is a top priority and the following serve as guidelines for pace of play at GCC:

• Riverside; all tees: 4 hours.
• Chanticleer; all tees: 4 hours 10 minutes. When conditions warrant carts remaining on the paths, time will be adjusted accordingly.
• Failure to adhere to pace of play or etiquette policies will result in fines, and/or the restriction of tee times and/or playing privileges to the offending group at the discretion of the Golf Committee.

• Members shall identify guests when tee times are made, and introduce and register their guests in the Golf Shop prior to teeing off.
• Members are responsible for their guests’ adherence to all rules and etiquette while on the club property. Unaccompanied guests found to be violating rules and/or etiquette by staff or other members may be asked to leave the property at the discretion of the Golf Staff and may result in fines charged to the sponsoring member by the Golf Committee.
• Members are limited to seven guests on weekdays except in the case of previously approved corporate and/or family outings. On weekends and holidays, members are limited to one guest before noon and up to seven guests after noon.
• Guests of Members will be allowed to play at GCC a maximum of 5 times per calendar year, regardless of permanent residence. This includes participation in all club-sanctioned events, with the exception of the Member-Guest, the Member’s Cup and the Senior Member-Guest. Non club-sanctioned events and corporate events will not be considered “guest play” and will not count towards the 5 allowable rounds.

Guest Fees

• Chanticleer guest fees are $130 for 18 holes and $70 for 9 holes.
• Riverside guest fees are $130 for 18 holes and $70 for 9 holes.
• A special adult guest fee of $70 per day ($35 for 9 holes) for either course may be obtained for immediate family members as defined to include: Parents or Parents in Law of the Member and/or Member’s Spouse; Brothers/Sisters or Brothers/Sisters In Law of the Member and/or Member Spouse; Siblings of Member and/or Member Spouse and/or Member Dependents who have reached their 25th birthday. The special adult guest fee will not include the uncles/aunts/cousins/nieces and/or nephews of the Member and/or Member Spouse.
• At the discretion of the Golf Committee Chairman or the Head Golf Professionals, unaccompanied guests may be approved for playing privileges at the guest fee rate of $250 per guest at Chanticleer and $250 per guest at Riverside in keeping with the guidelines for outside play.

Members and their guests are expected to abide by all posted signs or directions from the golf staff related to the use of the practice areas.

• Designated practice areas are provided at Riverside and at Chanticleer for member and guest use, and every attempt will be made to have practice areas open when the courses are open.
• Practice facilities will close at 7:30 pm during the season and will adjust 1 hr before sunset during the shoulder months based on daylight.
• During Periods of congestion when stalls are full, dependents of members (25 and younger) are to be aware of adult members waiting and relinquish their stall on the range.
  
• If you are not utilizing a hitting bay, your bag should be removed to allow others to utilize that space. Unattended bags will be removed by staff.
• Members may only practice from designated areas which have been set up by the Greens and Golf Staff for that particular day. When practice is restricted to mats, players may not hit shots from turf. This includes using a tee to hit drivers and fairway woods.
• Practicing on the Riverside and Chanticleer Golf Courses is prohibited. This includes hitting multiple shots from the same position or lie on either golf course is prohibited.
• Members are prohibited from taking full swing divots in practice areas designated for chipping so as to protect the turf and the safety of others. Practice for pitch shots that might take significant divots should only be done on the driving range.
• At Riverside, range balls should be directed to the right of the center of the range when hitting drivers. Range balls at Chanticleer should, likewise, be directed away from the #1 fairway and towards target areas.
• Range balls are the property of the Club and are provided for practice only. Range balls are prohibited from use on both golf courses. A fine of $150 may be imposed upon a member, and charged to a member's account if the member, spouse, child or guest violates this club policy.
• The practice putting greens at Riverside and Chanticleer are for putting only. Members are required to otherwise use the designated practice greens at Chanticleer and Riverside for chipping and short pitching practice.
• Congregating on the putting greens is not permissible to ensure quality conditions through the season.
• Running and playing by unsupervised children on the range, putting green or chipping green is prohibited at all times.
• Members/Dependents are responsible in keeping the practice areas clean by throwing away any trash or water bottles they have used.

• The Club furnishes a bag storage area at Chanticleer and Riverside for an annual fee.
• Locker room facilities are available at each course with both Reserved and "Day Lockers" available for members and guests. Members and their guests are strongly discouraged from changing clothes and shoes in the parking lots at Riverside or Chanticleer.
• Lockers may be reserved for an annual fee at both Riverside and Chanticleer.

• Tee times may be obtained online 7 days in advance starting at 7:30am on GCC website. Tee times may also be obtained via telephone or in person when the pro shop opens for business. This may vary with seasonality.
• Members will be allowed to reserve a maximum block of 2 tee times.
• Members should cancel tee times that will not be used. Multiple violations of this courtesy will result in notification to the Golf Committee, and may result in charging the member for the lost revenues of that tee time. The Golf Committee, at its discretion, may reserve "starter's times" or blocks of tee times for the overall benefit of the golf program.

• Members and guests participating in club events must have an established and verifiable USGA handicap to participate.
• Equitable handicaps are vital to the reputation and integrity of the Club and its members, and are also vital in promoting fair competition during golf events. Members should accurately record scores for each round played. Failure to accurately record scores or otherwise manipulate scores is unacceptable and will be addressed by the Golf Committee, Handicap Committee, and potentially by the Board of Governors. Members failing to post scores within 7 days of playing will be reported to the Golf Committee and a penalty score equal to the Member’s lowest posted score in last 20 rounds on the respective course, will be posted. If it is determined that a member has intentionally violated the handicap policy, additional discipline beyond a "penalty score" may be imposed by the Golf Committee.
• An annual fee covering the GHIN handicap charge will be billed to each member posting scores.

• All Members, their families and guests are expected to dress in appropriate golf attire while playing or practicing at the facilities. Guidelines for the appropriate golf attire are provided below. However, determination of appropriate golf attire can and shall be made by the Golf Staff.
• Men must wear collared or mock-necked shirts, appropriate slacks (no jeans), or shorts within three inches of the knee. Tank top, casual t-shirts and football jerseys are prohibited. Shirt tails must be tucked in at all times. Hats shall be worn front facing at all times. Men must remove headwear while indoors.
• Ladies must wear attire appropriate for golf. Tank tops, casual t-shirts and jeans are prohibited. Sleeveless shirts must have a collar, and collarless shirts must have sleeves.
• Spikeless golf shoes (or appropriate smooth-soled athletic shoes) are required by all players at Riverside, Chanticleer, and all practice facilities without exception. Soft spikes are available at Riverside and Chanticleer.
  
• Members and their guests are strongly encouraged to use the Locker Room facilities for the changing of shoes and clothes.

• Drivers must have a valid driver's license and must be 16 years old. Young children under the age of six and not playing golf are allowed to ride in carts only under strict adult supervision. In an effort to promote safety, protect our golf courses, and in order to protect the club against potential liability, no more than two persons shall be allowed on a golf cart.
• All members or guests operating or riding in carts are expected to observe all golf cart regulations. This means not driving carts on fairways where carts are prohibited, not riding into the rough and following the fairway entrance and egress instructions as shown on the course with ropes, stakes, etc. If a cart violation is reported, BOTH members using the cart at the time of the violation may be subject to reprimand or fine, as deemed appropriate by the Golf Committee.
• The Greens Superintendents will make decisions regarding cart path regulations daily, will inform the golf staff, and will post the daily regulations at each clubhouse. DURING TIMES WHEN GOLF CARTS ARE PERMITTED ON THE COURSE, CARTS SHOULD ENTER AND EXIT THROUGH THE DESIGNATED AREAS, AND REMAIN IN THE FAIRWAYS AT ALL TIMES. RIDING IN THE ROUGH IS NOT ALLOWED except in areas designated for entrance and exit to fairways.
• The use of individual manual or powered walking carts is permitted at the Riverside, and Chanticleer golf courses. Only approved types of carts will be allowed. Walking carts must observe all signs posted on golf courses. An annual trail fee will be assessed for each cart.
• At no time shall walking carts be walked through bunkers or across greens or fringes.
• Riverside carts shall remain on paths for holes - #2, #8, #13 & #17
• Chanticleer carts shall remain on paths on holes - #1, #2, #4, #8 ,#10,#12, #14, #16, #18
• Restrictions will apply to other holes or wet areas as posted by the Golf Staff.
• Members and their guests shall obey all ropes, enter and exit the fairways only through the designated areas, use good judgment in avoiding wet areas, and keep golf carts on the path around all tees and greens.
• During periods of daylight savings, golf carts must be off the golf course by 8:30 pm. The club assumes no responsibility for injury resulting from the use of golf carts. Members are responsible for any damage to a golf cart, the course, or other club property resulting from negligence in operation of the cart by themselves, their family, or guests. Any such damage or accident must be reported to the golf staff promptly.
• All members are asked to politely remind others of golf cart regulations and report repeated violations immediately. Club employees (golf or greens staff) are authorized to offer friendly reminders regarding cart policies when violations are observed while performing other regular duties. Members should comply with any reminder and not reprimand anyone (fellow member or staff person) in this regard.
• Golf carts should be returned to staging areas near golf shops at Riverside and Chanticleer.
• Members’ children under the age of 15 will be exempt from cart fees when accompanied by a parent.

Members and guests are expected to comply with the Golf Playing Policies. Violations of the Golf Regulations and/or etiquette by a member, spouse, family member or guest, may result in a review by the Golf Committee, a reprimand or fine, and/or restriction or loss of playing privileges of the member and/or his/her family. Members should report violations to the Golf Staff or Chairman of the Golf Committee.

Any such reprimand or fine shall be determined at the sole discretion of the Golf Committee and require Board of Governors approval. In no event shall a fine be greater than $150.00 for the first offense and $300.00 for the second offense. However, nothing herein contained shall prohibit the Board of Governors from issuing any additional sanctions as permitted by the By-Laws, up to and including a suspension or expulsion from the club.

The following are considered to be serious violations of GCC golf rules:

• Fishing, wading, swimming or the like, are expressly forbidden in all lakes, rivers and streams. Jogging (except for club sanctioned fitness events), bike riding, walking or walking of pets is prohibited on the golf courses. Driving a vehicle or member owned golf cart onto either golf course is prohibited. In the event members, their family members, or their guests are found to have damaged the golf course as a result of a rules violation or other deliberate action the Board of Governors may require restitution or impose other sanctions as it deems appropriate.
• The Club prohibits the use of bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, and other apparatus for recreational use on the golf course or cart path.
• Intentional damage to the course, its greens, tees, or bunkers, is a serious matter and violations will be addressed by the Golf Committee. Members should not walk into or exit bunkers from the high side.
• Any injuries or accidents of any nature should be reported to the Golf Staff promptly.
• Failure to follow daily cart path regulations, driving through roped off areas, or driving off of the cart path around tees and greens is considered a serious rules violation.
