Chanticleer National Senior Inv

Tournament Vision

The Chanticleer National Senior Invitational started in 2011 with the vision that it would provide a superbly conditioned, very challenging course on which to present a premier invitational tournament for elite senior and super senior golfers recognized for their playing accomplishments on a national and international scale. The limited field is determined from the pool of applicants with preference given to players' performance in national and international events as well as the current rankings. As an integral part of our vision, we provide extraordinary hospitality and great value to both our players and their significant others.

Congratulations to our 2024 champions. Matthew Sughrue of Arlington, VA who captured the Senior title by shooting a three day total of 219, beating Bob Royak by one shot.  James Pearson of Charlotte, NC won his second Super Senior Championship by shooting a three day total of 228 finishing one stroke ahead of Keith Waters.

  • A Word From Rees Jones
    • "Greenville Country Club's Chanticleer course will be an excellent venue for a national senior invitational. Chanticleer entered Golf Digest's list of top-100 courses in America immediately after it opened 40 years ago. Robert Trent Jones laid out the course over terrain ideally suited for golf. The rolling topography and ubiquitous streams have provided a canvas for an old style golf course with a truly unique collection of golf holes. Although Chanticleer contains some strong, demanding holes, length is not the overwhelming aspect of the course. There is a wide variety of angles and options on both tee and approach shots and the green surfaces are well contoured to the degree that proper placement and putting are a must. Strategy and accuracy will be at a premium for the tournament, as mastering the Chanticleer course will require excellence in each phase of the game."
-Rees Jones, world famous golf course architect responsible for Chanticleer's 2002 renovation

    • Notable Remarks on the Beauty of Chanticleer

"Chanticleer is always in great shape. It plays tough and the greens are fast and true. It's a good test."
      -Lucas Glover, U.S. Open Champion

"The old school feel of the golf course is something that makes it fun to play... many of the holes have challenging tee shots where you have to move it both left to right and right to left. The greens are always the best bent grass greens in the southeast, including the tour courses we play nearby."
-Bill Haas, PGA tour champion and Fed Ex Cup winner, GCC member

"Chanticleer is not only one of the best golf courses in South Carolina, but one of the best golf experiences. Put one of the best playing memberships on top of that and you have the total package."
-Charles Warren, former PGA tour player, GCC member
