Chanticleer Invitational

Tournament Vision

Greenville Country Club aims to establish the Chanticleer Invitational as one of the most prestigious and competitive mid-amateur four-ball championships in the United States. Our nationally ranked Robert Trent Jones course provides the perfect setup for this team format, which lends itself to risk-reward shot making. The field of 48 teams will be chosen based on past results, strength of resume, and date of entry.

The 2024 Invitational will be played on November 9-10, with an optional practice round on November 8.

    • Notable Remarks on the Chanticleer Course

"The old school feel of the golf course is something that makes it fun to play... many of the holes have challenging tee shots where you have to move it both left to right and right to left. The greens are always the best bent grass greens in the southeast, including the tour courses we play nearby."
-Bill Haas, PGA tour champion, Fed Ex Cup champion, & GCC member

"Chanticleer is not only one of the best golf courses in South Carolina, but one of the best golf experiences. Put one of the best playing memberships on top of that and you have the total package."
-Charles Warren, NCAA champion, PGA tour player, & GCC member

      "
Chanticleer is always in great shape. It plays tough and the greens are fast and true. It's a good test."
      -Lucas Glover, U.S. Open champion

  • A Word From Rees Jones
    • "Greenville Country Club's Chanticleer Course will be an excellent venue for a national invitational. Chanticleer entered Golf Digest's list of top-100 courses in America immediately after it opened 40 years ago. Robert Trent Jones laid out the course over terrain ideally suited for golf. The rolling topography and ubiquitous streams have provided a canvas for an old style golf course with a truly unique collection of golf holes. Although Chanticleer contains some strong, demanding holes, length is not the overwhelming aspect of the course. There are a wide variety of angles and options on both tee and approach shots and the green surfaces are well contoured to the degree that proper placement and putting are a must. Strategy and accuracy will be at a premium for the tournament, as mastering the Chanticleer course will require excellence in each phase of the game."
